Chicken Salad Chick Expands into Kansas with Three-Store Deal

Chicken Salad Chick, the nation’s only fast-casual chicken salad restaurant concept, is set to expand into Kansas with a three-store franchise deal in Johnson County, marking its first foray into the state. Kansas City natives and sisters, Jo Anne Williams and Cindy Sulzman, are spearheading this venture, with locations planned to serve the suburban areas of Prairie Village, Olathe, Overland Park, and Lenexa.

After discovering Chicken Salad Chick in 2012 during a trip to Destin, Florida, the sisters fell in love with the concept. Now, they are excited to bring the brand’s signature Southern-style chicken salad and warm hospitality to their local communities. Williams will lead business development and back-office operations, while Sulzman will focus on retail, catering, and merchandising. Their venture will also include Jo Anne’s husband, Kirk, who brings a wealth of experience in restaurant operations.

The expansion complements Chicken Salad Chick’s growing presence in the Kansas City market, with Kendra and Alan Greenwood also opening locations in Lee’s Summit and Blue Springs, Missouri.

The first of the three Johnson County locations is slated to open in 2025.
